A native of St. Louis, MO, Pastor Edwards accepted his call into the Gospel Ministry in 1974. He is a graduate of the University of Evansville. Ordained in 1978 after being called to pastor the St. Paul M.B. Church of Princeton, Indiana.  He served at Mt. Olive Galilee from 1995 until 2004 when his employment moved him to Anderson, IN. While in Anderson, the Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church called him as pastor in 2006. Upon his relocation back to Evansville Mt. Olive Galilee Church recalled him to be pastor in 2017.

Justice issues have been important for much of his ministry. He served a total of 24 years as the Human Relations Commissions in Evansville and Anderson, Indiana. Pastor Edwards has served as a civil rights and diversity trainer throughout Indiana. His ministry seeks to prepare the saints for service to the church, community, and the nation. He is married to Elizabeth McIntyre-Edwards. Together they have 3 children, 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
